The goal was to create a way to correct color position deviations caused by production processes after the fact. This is a minimal change, but one that is crucial to the perceived quality of light.
Together with Docter® Optics, we developed a dielectric filter that can specifically influence the chromaticity. The filter makes it possible to correct the color cast—often perceived as distracting—that lies above or below the Planckian black curve. This deviation from the defined chromaticity is referred to as the Duv value.
Our collaboration resulted in a filter for a color temperature of 3,000 K that specifically corrects a positive Duv value downward by approximately 0.2–0.3%—a seemingly minimal change with a significant effect: The color location returns exactly to the Planck blackbody curve, and the SDCM value can be reduced to nearly 1.
With this filter, we are expanding our portfolio with a tool that truly shines where perfection and precision in light quality are essential. For our customers, this means even more opportunities to shape quality down to the finest detail.
The dielectric filter will be available from us starting in 2026.
