Located in the modern cultural district on the Oslofjord, in the heart of Bjørvika, Deichman Bjørvika is an extraordinary public space dedicated to knowledge and community. Far more than just a library, the building combines open architecture, light, and space to create an atmosphere that invites people to linger, learn, and engage with one another.

A distinctive feature of this project is the “Lib” desk lamp developed by corporate friends®, which integrates seamlessly into the library’s architecture. A key requirement from the architects was to consistently align all elements with the glass railing behind the work surfaces. This principle was directly incorporated into the lamp’s design: The lamp’s stem precisely follows the angle of the glass surface, thereby becoming part of the overall architectural concept.

Overall, the lighting concept is characterized by a high degree of design integration. In addition to state-of-the-art shelving systems and targeted lighting of the workspaces with a color rendering index (CRI) of 98, the focus was on energy efficiency and minimizing distracting reflections on the glass surfaces.

We are proud to be part of this special library and, together with Light Bureau to develop the lighting concept.
